when is an 816A not an 816A?

When a seller who doesn't know anything posts a set that are too short and completely wrong in the ports as a pair of them.. His response? The ports were modified. Yeah. Sure.

Ignorance is bliss, he'll smile all the way to the bank. The buyer won't smile once he finds out what he bought.

Seller was just plain disrespectful to compound his ignorance. One of those with an exaggerated view of himself.

Yes, they look like lopped off 825's.................. that were rode hard, put up wet, then dragged thru 2 more complete life cycles.

If they're still solid and tight, they're probably functionally better than 816's.

But, i totally agree with OG, they never were, and never will be 816's.

I can't imagine paying ANY amount of money for those.

I agree with all the above. I had a pair of lopped off 825's. As Bowtie mentioned supposed to perform better than 816's because of non parallel top and bottom sides of the flare. But good for mid bass only would need subs.

    Yup- no base a-tall.

The guy swears they are 816's with modified ports and nothing will convince him.

Anyway, it was common to do that. I think the 816 was Altec's reaction to the demand. BTW has anyone else noticed the 816 horn is just half the old 820? Where the 817 is almost the 820 with the center divider gone.

816As are my primary listening enclosure. Those are definitely NOT 816As.
